Graduate Program in Political Science
The MA in Political Science at the University of South Florida enables students
to research and analyze politics at the local, national, and international levels.
In an increasingly globalized world, a thorough understanding of politics and government
is an essential ingredient for success in both the public and private sectors. The
MA in Political Science prepares students for positions in government, business,
and education. This degree also serves as a foundation for students who wish to
pursue their doctoral studies in government, political science, or international
relations.
Graduate Advising
During the first semester in the program, each student must develop a plan of study
in consultation with the Graduate Coordinator. Thereafter, students consult with
the Graduate Coordinator who provides technical and procedural advising as well
as substantive advice. However, students are also encouraged to discuss their research
interests with individual members of the faculty. An orientation session for new
and continuing students is provided at the beginning of the academic year. In addition,
monthly professional workshops discuss topics of interest to graduate students.
