Welcome to Public Administration

Message from the Director
John L. Daly

Welcome to the University of South Florida’s Public Administration Program website. This website is designed to answer your questions about USF’s Public Administration and Nonprofit management programs.

The University of South Florida’s Public Administration Program is the only nationally accredited Public Administration Program in the Tampa Bay region. Accredited since 1988 by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) we are committed to providing the highest quality education for our students.

USF’s Public Administration Program has offered courses in public and nonprofit administration for more than 35 years. During this period we have granted approximately 600 Master in Public Administration (MPA) degrees. Many of our past graduates have risen to positions of prominence in Florida government, including Florida’s current Secretary of State Kurt Browning, MPA’94 and Pat Bean, MPA’86, Hillsborough County Administrator and Brian Corley, Supervisor of Elections for Pasco County, MPA‘07. Our MPA graduates serve in a number of leadership capacities in city/county management and nonprofit agencies in the Tampa Bay region, and beyond.

In addition to our NASPAA accredited MPA program, we also offer two graduate certificate programs for individuals seeking additional knowledge about professional management in public agencies (Graduate Certificate in Public Management) and nonprofit agencies (Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management). These programs have been very popular among students who already have graduate degrees in other fields but seek additional knowledge and credentialing in these areas.

Our Public Administration faculty is truly diverse, with outstanding teaching credentials and a prolific record of scholarly publications. Our faculty members have established national and international reputations in a variety of Public Administration fields, including Organizational and Human Resource Management, Public Policy, Information Management and Budgeting and Financial Administration.

Please do not hesitate to contact our Program Specialist, Ms. Sally Beynon, sbeynon@cas.usf.edu or (813) 974-0813 or any one of our faculty should you wish additional information about our program offerings. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you personally. I can be reached at either daly@cas.usf.edu or (813) 974-0779.

Best regards,

John L. Daly. Ph.D., Associate Professor and Director,
