Affairs
Focus of the PhD Program:
The PhD in Government at the Department of Government and International Affairs
focuses research and teaching in the area of Sustainable Communities in a globalizing
world. More specifically, the doctoral program addresses the impact of the globalization
process on public policy and political communities. The Ph.D. in Government will
utilize the rich expertise of the programs in Political Science, International Relations
and Public Administration. Our doctoral program’s theoretical depth, methodological
rigor, and emphasis on practical application will provide a multidisciplinary perspective
to the study of governance in a global environment. Regardless of students’ career
goals, this Ph.D. in government will enable graduates to conduct sophisticated research
and contribute to policy making in the field of international relations, comparative
politics, American government, political theory, and public administration.
The Ph.D. in Government is a multidisciplinary study with two tracks:
Public Affairs and Sustainable Political Communities
Financial Aid:
Graduate Assistantships provide approximately $15,000 per year plus 9 credits of
tuition waiver per semester.
Admissions Requirements:
- Master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- A concise personal statement about your academic goals
- Three (3) letters of recommendation, preferably by academics
- GRE scores and when applicable TOEFL scores
- Official Transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate level courses
- Writing sample of no more than 30 pages
